Emerging Minds of Maryland announces their support of two new bills paving the way for virtual education as a public school option.
These two bills lay the foundation for bringing virtual instruction as an option for all families across the state of Maryland.
House Bill 1543: Education – Public Schools – Virtual Schools
Synopsis:
Authorizing the State Department of Education or a county board of education to establish a virtual school in the State; establishing that a virtual school is a public school subject to applicable laws and regulations; requiring a virtual school to provide specified curricular programs to the students of the virtual school; requiring a virtual school to provide specified materials and access to technology to the parent or guardian of a student enrolled in the virtual school; etc.

Maryland Senator James C. Rosapepe filed a bill today titled “Funding Formula to Expand K-12 Online Education,”
Why Bonnie Wesselhoff chose virtual instruction for her children.
A group of Baltimore County parents whose children participated in an online learning program that the school system did not fund this year has formed an organization to push for access to alternative education throughout the state.
