It’s an amazing thing to be part of the law making process. It’s even more amazing when you’re an ordinary high school girl or a middle school boy, or even a third grader. But that’s what six Maryland families did on March 24th, 2010, as they testified before the Ways and Means Committee in the House of Delegates. They were part of a Virtual Education Option advocacy group that appeared in Annapolis to share compelling stories regarding the success they have experienced as students of home based virtual schooling for the last three academic years. The students, their parents and their teachers were among several advocators who are determined to bring this innovative education option to Maryland.

HOUSE BILL 1362 is the bill that lays the framework for a Virtual School option. March 30th will be the 3rd reading and a final vote in the House of Delegates on HB 1362; we need to see it moved to the Senate in time to be reviewed and passed. Now is the time for Maryland’s families to contact all of their Delegates and Senators in their district asking them to vote YES on House Bill 1362. There cannot be too many calls or eMails requesting this bill’s passage. Make your voice heard and join our kids to see to it that this bill moves to and passes in the Senate next!
